Junior Content Producer Apprenticeship

A Junior Content Producer (also referred to as a Creative Content Assistant) is responsible for developing and creating content that can be used across various media, including digital, social media, broadcast or in print. Working to the customer/client brief, they research, prepare, and develop the media messaging to maximise audience engagement, capturing the brand’s strategy and objectives and needs of the customer they are representing. The content they create can be used as part of media, advertising and marketing campaigns. They have to capture what is exciting about a campaign and design the elements that can be used across media platforms and channels.

  • Duration

    This apprenticeship will typically take 12 – 18 months to complete

  • Qualifications

    Individual employers will set their own entry requirements

Module 1: Business Context, Branding and Content

  • Understand and organisations Visions, Missions, Values, Objectives and how they support content creation
  • Learn the importance of the brand and managing risk and reputation

Module 2: Content planning, sourcing and storing

  • How to interpret a client / creative brief and proposals
  • What and how to research for developing content
  • What information do you need from your client before developing content?
  • Identifying costs – what you need (purchasing images, research papers etc.)

Module 3: Audience – Who are you writing for and why?

  • Knowledge of audience trends, audience research, audience segmentation
  • Understanding stakeholders and their different needs
  • Exploring reasons for writing content in business – retention vs acquisition, change perception, inform, summarise, remind, reassure, formal vs informal

Module 4: Types of Content and Channels

  • Why content marketing is important
  • What is content marketing
  • Identifying different types of content
  • Channels – digital vs traditional

Module 5: Content for Social Media, SEO and Websites

  • Know about different Content management systems
  • How to use WordPress
  • Understand web accessibility and language for websites

Module 6: Content for Video and Broadcast

  • Practice scriptwriting for speeches, radio and TV
  • Understand how to create storyboards for video and film
  • How to write text for non-linear media such as video games using interactivity to control the game

Module 7: Content planning, sourcing and storing

  • Know how to establish and identify the correct tone of voice
  • How to use the AIDA model (Awareness, Interest, Desire, Action) to create content and how to pitch content at each stage of the model
  • Learn the CURVE method (for creating compelling headlines and headings)

Module 8: Language, Copy editing and Proofreading

  • Know how to summarise complex content
  • Understand the how language can be used and misused
  • What is Tone of voice

Module 9: Campaign Content and Pitch

  • How to interpret a brief and plan a campaign from the information provided
  • How to develop a content and plan out a short film
  • How to plan, cost and resource the film production within a given budget
  • How to develop a social media campaign

Module 10: Creative media Industry and you

  • How to spark ideas and get into the creative zone
  • Identify creative media and membership organisations
  • What is Best practice
  • Identify creative content publications, events, awards
  • Working as a freelance content producer

Junior Content Producers will be expected to demonstrate:

      • A passion for creating content for creative and digital media
      • An ability to work effectively both individually and collaboratively as part of a team
      • The ability to build and maintain positive relationships with customers
      • A strong work ethic and commitment in order to meet the standards required
      • Recognition and compliance with equality and diversity in the workplace
