Overview

This qualification is well respected by industry professionals and can lead to employment or apprenticeships in a range of cutting edge jobs in the computing, industrial and commercial sectors. Topics covered within this course are theory-based and include simulated live labs, giving the students plenty of opportunities to utilise their knowledge in practice.

The course is assessed using work-related, real-life assignments and simulated practical labs throughout the course. There are no exams, but you must meet deadlines set for each assignment. The program is an online-based course where subject specialist tutors teach the student throughout the course.

  • Live in Birmingham or surrounding areas
  • You must be over 19
  • You must not already have a Level 3 qualification
  • Level 2 English and Maths required or studying towards

Unit 2. Computer Systems

The aim of this unit is to enable learners to understand the components of computer systems and develop the skills needed to recommend systems.

Unit 3. Information Systems

The aim of this unit is to ensure learners understand how organisations use information and the surrounding use of information.

Unit 4. Impact of the Use of IT on Business Systems

This unit introduces learners to the key emerging trends in IT and their implications for organisations.

Unit 5. Managing Networks

The topics in this unit are designed to help learners understand the principles of network management and its tools.

Unit 6. Organisational Systems Security

This unit will enable you to identify potential threats to IT systems and the organisational issues related to IT security.

Unit 7. e-Commerce

The aim of this unit is to ensure that learners know the technologies involved in e-commerce.

Unit 8. Computer Networks

In the unit, learners will not only learn about networked systems, but also how to troubleshoot them.

Unit 9. Communication Technologies

The aim of this unit is to ensure learners understand the communication principles of computer networks.

Unit 10. IT Technical Support

The skills learnt in this unit enable learners to use their understanding of technical support tools to provide effective responses to customers

Unit 11. Maintaining Computer Systems

The aim of this unit is to ensure learners understand the organisational issues related to computer systems maintenance.

Unit 12. Networked Systems Security

The aim of this unit is to ensure learners know about the types and sources of network attacks and how to protect against them.
